Overview of livestock feed regulation in Canada
Livestock feed is regulated federally under the Feeds Act and Feeds Regulations, 2024 which are administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Oversight includes pre-market activities such as feed approval and registration, and post-market monitoring which includes inspections and sampling.

- The CFIA maintains a list of registered livestock feeds that contains the feeds that have an active registration under the authority of the Feeds Act and the regulations in Canada.
- The CFIA publishes feed industry notices to communicate new information or important reminders to feed businesses and other interested parties.
- The CFIA consults regularly on Animal Feed Program policy documents and proposed regulatory changes.
