Livestock feed is regulated federally under the Feeds Act and Feeds Regulations, 2024 which are administered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. As of June 17, 2025 livestock feeds must be manufactured under a preventive control plan. As of December 17, 2025 livestock feed businesses that engage in interprovincial trade, import or export may require a licence.
