General
- Origin & Breeding: bred and selected by Les Buissons Research Center, MAPAQ, Les Buissons (Québec) from the cross (Trent x Chieftain) in 1987.
- Registration in Canada: deregistered
- Maturity: mid-season
Botanical Features
- Plants: tall, upright growth; stems moderately pigmented; double straight wings; nodes moderately swollen and weakly pigmented.
- Leaves: yellowish green, mid-open, moderately pubescent; midribs rather strongly pigmented at the tip, weakly at the base; very slightly pubescent; petiole rather strongly pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: medium ovate, apex acuminate, base obtuse and symmetrical; margins slightly wavy.
Primary leaflets: four pairs, medium ovate, apex acuminate, base cordate, moderately asymmetrical. - Flowers: rather numerous, medium size, purple with white tips; orange anthers; peduncule moderately pigmented; low berry production.
- Tubers: round to oval; smooth red skin; shallow to moderately shallow eyes, well distributed; eyebrows very slightly prominent; white flesh.
- Sprouts: ovoid, purplish red base, slightly pubescent; tip very slightly pigmented, strongly pubescent.
Agricultural Features
High yielding variety; large tubers of attractive appearance. Medium dry matter content. Medium dormancy period.
- Utilization: rather floury texture, medium boiling sloughing; very good for boiling; not meant for the chips or fries markets.
- Chief Market: fresh market.
Reaction to Diseases
Moderately resistant: verticillium witl.
Moderately susceptible: common scab, rhizoctonia.
Susceptible: late blight
