Directive D-97-05 describes the requirements for importation from all countries of Chrysanthemum spp., Dendranthema spp. and Leucanthemella serotina plant material, including Dendranthema grandiflora, the common chrysanthemums grown and used by the floricultural industry.
Under the Canada-United States Regulatory Cooperation Council (RCC) Initiative, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the United States Department of Agriculture are working together on a pilot project that focuses on the coordination of approaches to regulatory oversight with an emphasis on chrysanthemum white rust regulations. As a result of this pilot project, the regulatory status of chrysanthemum white rust in Canada is under review.
Once the review is completed, including stakeholder consultations, D-97-05 will be updated to reflect any changes, as appropriate. Until this review is completed, the requirements in the current version of D-97-05 (1st revision, dated September 29, 2004) remain in effect.
In the present version of the directive, contact information, references to specific organizations within the CFIA, and references to other documents or policies may not be current. This information will be updated at the time of the next revision of this directive. Please contact the CFIA for any questions or further information.
