Sri Lanka - Export requirements for meat and poultry products

Eligible/ineligible product

Eligible

  • Poultry
  • Beef derived from cattle of all ages. Beef and beef products must have a slaughter date on or after June 26, 2023.
  • Conditions for export are restricted to beef and poultry meat. Conditions have not yet been established for meat of other species.

Pre-export approvals by competent authority of importing country

Import permit

  • The exporter is responsible for obtaining all the required import documents. It is important that the exporter review the conditions carefully to ensure that all the import requirements are met.

Production controls and inspection requirements

  • Sri Lanka may require proof that the products meet their approved microbiological standards and may also test the product upon entry into the country.

Documentation requirements

Certificate

  • Certificate of Inspection Covering Meat Products (CFIA/ACIA 1454)
  • In the case of poultry: Annex A 'ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATE FOR POULTRY MEAT PRODUCTS DESTINED TO SRI LANKA' must be issued.
  • In the case of beef: Annex B VETERINARY CERTIFICATE FOR MEAT AND MEAT PRODUCTS, INCLUDING OFFAL, DERIVED FROM CATTLE OF ALL AGES DESTINED TO SRI LANKA must be issued.
