Qatar - Export requirements for manufactured foods
Note It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure their product meets the importing country's requirements.
Ineligible products
Food products not eligible for export to Qatar, including foods which have these products as ingredients, are:
- Hemp seed
- Poppy seed
- Foods with ingredients of animal origin without a Halal Certificate issued by an Islamic Authority approved by Qatar
Documentation requirements
Certificates
- A Certificate of Free Sale (CFIA/ACIA 5786) may be required. The Certificate of Free Sale (CFIA/ACIA 5786) may be used for export certification of certain food products for human consumption.
- A Certificate of Conformity (issued by third parties) may be required for certain food products – See Additional food regulations, below.
Additional food regulations
Qatar requires additional export certification of:
- foods that are genetically modified (GM) or that contain GM ingredients
- organic foods
- foods treated with radiation
Prior to the export of the above listed food products to Qatar, Canadian exporters should ensure that they have obtained a Certificate of Conformity from a third party in Canada that is authorized by the Qatari food authority. Exporters should work with their importer to obtain a list of third party certifiers approved by Qatar.
Food products exported to Qatar without a required certificate may be rejected upon arrival.
