General

  • Origin & Breeding: bred by Svalöf Weibull from the cross (Semlo x N73-ADD-36) in Sweden in 1977.
  • Registration in Canada: deregistered
  • Maturity: late season

Botanical Features

  • Plants: tall, semi-erect to spreading; stems moderately pigmented; waved single wings; nodes slightly swollen and slightly pigmented.
  • Leaves: dark green, semi-open; midribs very weakly pigmented; petioles not pigmented.
    Terminal leaflets: medium ovate; apex acuminate; base cordate and very slightly asymmetrical; weakly wavy margins.
    Primary leaflets: five pairs; narrowly ovate; apex acuminate; base cordate and very weakly asymmetrical.
  • Flowers: numerous; rather large red to red-violet corolla with white tips, very prominent star; bright yellow anthers; flower buds medium to strongly pigmented; peduncles moderately pigmented.
  • Tubers: oval to oblong; flaky yellow skin; shallow eyes, intermediate in number, evenly distributed; slightly prominent eyebrows; yellow flesh.
  • Sprouts: broad cylindrical; blue-violet; base weakly pubescent, moderately pigmented; tip moderately pubescent, not pigmented, open habit.

Agricultural Features

Very high yielding variety; high number of medium size tubers per plant; good resistance to external and internal defects; good storability; high dry matter.

  • Utilization: moderate after boiling sloughing; no after cooking discolouration; good for boiling and baking, and good for frying at harvest.
  • Chief Markets: fresh market, fresh french fries.

Reaction to Diseases

Highly resistant: potato cyst nematode.
Moderately susceptible: common scab, late blight.
Highly susceptible: PVY
