Advanced stages of Ralstonia solanacearum infection on Geranium - Doctor. S.G.P. Nameth, Department of Plant Pathology, Ohio State University

Ralstonia solanacearum phylotype II (Rs-II), previously known as Ralstonia solanacearum race 3 biovar 2, is a bacterial plant pathogen that is considered a quarantine pest in Europe, Canada and the United States. Rs-II causes a wilting disease in geraniums (Pelargonium spp.) and brown rot in potatoes. It is also of concern for Solanaceous crops such as tomatoes and more recently it was found that Rosa spp (roses) are asymptomatic hosts of Rs-II. This pest has not been found in Canada.
