Bouvry Exports Calgary Ltd. fined $17,000 for an offence under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations

On January 6, 2025, in the Alberta Court of Justice, Bouvry Exports Calgary Ltd. pled guilty to one count of contravening the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (the "SFCR").

On January 6, 2025, the court imposed a fine of $17,000 against Bouvry Exports Calgary Ltd. for failing to implement their preventative control plan between July 20 and July 21, 2021, contrary to section 88 of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. Bouvry Exports Calgary Ltd's ante-mortem pre-screening and equine identification preventative control plan, requires that equine identification documents are complete and accurate. The documents were not verified when received.

The Crown withdrew the remaining charges against Bouvry Exports Calgary Ltd.
