The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) cancelled the Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence #3VRC7VFN of Stelcore Retail Ltd., based in India, effective April 24, 2025.
With this cancellation, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which SFC licence #3VRC7VFN was issued.
The CFIA cancelled the licence because the licence holder provided false and misleading information in its Safe Food for Canadians licence application with respect to its business address, contravening section 15 of the Safe Food for Canadians Act. Section 15 of the Safe Food for Canadians Act states that, it is prohibited for a person to make a false or misleading statement to any person who is exercising powers or performing duties or functions under this Act — or to provide him or her with false or misleading information — in connection with any matter under any provision of this Act or the regulations, including in respect of an application for a licence or registration.
Following this contravention of the Safe Food for Canadians Act, the CFIA notified Stelcore Retail Ltd. on March 11, 2025 of the grounds being considered for licence cancellation. The licence holder was provided with an opportunity to be heard until April 7, 2025 and did not respond.
There is no food recall associated with this cancellation.
Licence holders are responsible for ensuring they comply with Canada's food laws. The CFIA is committed to enforcing those laws.
