4. Production controls and inspection requirements

The manufacturer must be aware of the standards and requirements of the importing country. A specific export procedure must be in place.

Note: Inspectors reserve the right to request any other information that they think is necessary for the final certification of the product.

The inspector must verify during a preventive control inspection that the manufacturer is aware of the standards and requirements of the importing country and has a specific export procedure in place.

The following information must be provided by the manufacturer/exporter by a response company official, for example, quality manager or equivalent and provided to the CFIA inspector:

  • name and description of food
  • HS Code (6-digit or as provided by importer)
  • treatment (if any)
  • brand name (if any)
  • production date
  • expiry date
  • quantity (in kg)
  • number of packages and other relevant information as in the certificate
  • origin of the shell egg/processed egg products (province and/or country). This information is to be provided by exporter is to confirm that highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle disease meet the requirements, as specified, in the certificate.

Note: Traceability from farm to finished product is an important part in export certification. The inspector reserves the right to ask for any further information that he or she consider necessary for final certification.

Certification requirements

  • The statements on the health certificate (CFIA/ACIA FA1022) are met based on the negotiated certificate.

Import permit

An import permit may be required. Exporter should work with the importer to verify this condition.

Imported shell egg and processed egg products

The use of shell egg or processed egg products imported from certain countries may limit exports to the UAE. These limitations are usually associated with the animal health status of the country of origin of the shell egg or processed egg products, specifically, highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle Diseases as well as other statements such as heat treatment etc. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to assure that the conditions are met, and provide appropriate documentation, to the inspector, where necessary

5. Labelling, packaging, and marking requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to meet all the requirements for labelling, packaging and marking requirements as required by the United Arab Emirates, for example Arabic labelling.

6. Documentation requirements

Canada has a negotiated certificate with the United Arab Emirates.

Certificate

  • Health certificate for the export of table eggs and its products to the United Arab Emirates (CFIA/ACIA FA1022).

Note:

  • The health certificate can be signed by a CFIA official veterinarian or official inspector.
  • Halal certification may be required. The importer and exporter are responsible for providing the required halal certification for exported products. The CFIA is not involved in halal certification.
  • Export certificates will not be issued for products that have left Canada.

7. Other information

Samples (personal or commercial) of exported products may be subject to the same requirements as regular shipments. Exporters are strongly advised to check these requirements with their importers.

A certificate of origin (CO) may be requested during the import control procedure at border inspection posts. The CO is issued by chambers of commerce.

Exported products transiting through a country may require transit documents. It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that his shipment is accompanied by all the necessary certificates. Please work closely with your importer.
