Taiwan – Export requirements for fish and seafood

  • All fish and seafood products except those listed below

Ineligible

  • Seal products
  • Uneviscerated, frozen or chilled salmonids, perches, catfishes and cyprinids
  • Live shrimp, prawns, crayfish, or abalone

Pre-export approvals by the competent authority of the importing country

Labelling, packaging and marking requirements

Labelling

  • Country and province of origin must be declared
  • All appropriate boxes or containers of eviscerated frozen or chilled fish products of salmonids, perch, catfish and cyprinids shall be marked with "Canada", CFIA Establishment ID number, and the exporter's province

Documentation requirements

Certificate

  • For live finfish and their roe

    Aquatic Animal Health and Sanitary Certificate for the Export of Live Finfish, their Viable Gametes and Fertilized Eggs for Human Consumption from Canada to Taiwan (AQAH-1034)

  • For bivalve molluscs

    Sanitary Certificate covering for fish and fishery products (CFIA/ACIA 5431)

    The following statements/information must be included on the certificate (CFIA/ACIA 5431):

    • if the fish and fishery products destined for Taiwan meet all applicable requirements as well as the European Union requirements, the certificate can be issued as is
    • if the fish and fishery products destined for Taiwan meet all applicable requirements however, they do not meet the European Union requirements, then the certificate described above can be issued with the following portions removed:
      • first 3 statements – strike out: "and European Union regulatory requirements"
      • last statement – strike out the complete statement: "originate from (an) establishment(s) approved to export to the European Union"
    • information on harvest area must be indicated under Section II Provenance.

      This requirement currently applies only to bivalve molluscs such as oyster, clams, scallops, mussels, etc.

  • All other eligible products:

    Sanitary Certificate covering for fish and fishery products (CFIA/ACIA 5431)

    The following statements/information must be included on the certificate:

    • if the fish and fishery products destined for Taiwan meet all applicable requirements as well as the European Union requirements, the certificate can be issued as is
    • if the fish and fishery products destined for Taiwan meet all applicable requirements however, they do not meet the European Union requirements, then the certificate described above can be issued with the following portions removed:
      • first 3 statements – strike out: "and European Union regulatory requirements"
      • last statement – strike out the complete statement: "originate from (an) establishment(s) approved to export to the European Union"
