1. Eligible/ineligible product
Eligible
- The Import Health Standard (IHS) of New Zealand (NZ) defines egg products as the contents of an egg derived from poultry in any form including egg pulp, dried egg, liquid egg white and liquid egg yolk. Please work closely with your importer to verify if your product is eligible.
Ineligible
- Information not available.
2. Pre-export approvals by the competent authority of the importing country
No. However, it is recommended to confirm that with the importer.
3. Production controls and inspection requirements
The inspector must verify during a preventive control inspection that the manufacturer is aware of the standards and requirements of NZ and has a specific export procedure in place.
NZ requires the shipment to be accompanied by a manufacturer's declaration. Depending on the type of egg product exported, the manufacturer must attest, among other things, the following:
- that the product is intended for human consumption
- the animal species (domestic chicken Gallus gallus)
- the origin of the egg products (country/zone/compartment)
- the heat treatment (time and temperature depending on the type product)
- the egg product contains no more than 100 mg/kg of eggshell remains, egg membrane and other particles
- quality control measures were in place to prevent contamination of the egg products were in sealed packaging and have remained separated from non-processed products and not of equivalent zoosanitary status
- other
Inspectors must ensure the accuracy of the information provided in the manufacturer's declaration. On-site verification may be required.
Note: The use of imported egg products from certain countries may limit the ability to export to NZ. These constraints are usually related to the animal health status of the country of origin of the egg products.
4. Labelling, packaging and marking requirements
It is the exporter's responsibility to meet all the requirements for labelling, packaging and marking as per the importing country.
The packaging must be impervious and sealed at the point of manufacture. The original packaging must be intact, in other words, has not been opened.
5. Documentation requirements
Certificate
Canada does not have a negotiated certificate with NZ. Export certification is based on the import requirements of this country.
The model health certificate below has been developed according to the requirements outlined in the IHS of NZ. The statements could be modified according to the type of product exported, the animal health status of Canada or if NZ changes its requirements. The exporter must ensure the accuracy of the requirements before requesting a certificate.
- Export health certificate for processed egg products exported to New Zealand (CFIA/ACIA 5975)
Note:
- The export health certificate must be accompanied by a manufacturer's declaration. This document will be endorsed by the CFIA.
- The manufacturer's declaration will be prepared by the manufacturer on letterhead paper and signed by the quality manager or equivalent. It must contain the correct statements as required by the import conditions.
6. Other information
Exported products transiting through a country may require transit documentation. It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure that the shipment will be accompanied by all necessary certificates. Please work closely with your importer.
Samples (personal or commercial) of egg products may be subject to the same requirements as a regular shipment. It is strongly recommended that the exporter verify these requirements with his importer.
