France - Export requirements dairy products for test use of machine

1. Eligible/ineligible product

Eligible

  • For example, samples of cheeses sent to test cutting machines.

Ineligible

  • Dairy products intended for human consumption or any dairy product not intended for machine testing.

2. Pre-export approvals by the competent authority of the importing country

Establishments

France does not have a list of approved establishments for products intended for machine testing. The dairy products must come from an establishment licensed under the Safe Food for Canadian Regulations (SFCR).

3. Production controls and inspection requirements

The manufacturer must be aware of the standards and requirements of the importing country. A specific procedure must be in place. The heat treatment performed on the dairy products must be specified. Please note that the importer must be authorized by the French authorities to import dairy products for testing machines.

Dairy products must be manufactured in Canada, country that is free of foot-and-mouth disease and rinderpest. The raw milk must originate from the zone(s) listed in Part 1 of Annex XVII to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/404. In the case of Canada, the code of the zone is CA-0.

Manufacturer's declaration

  • All export requests for milk and dairy products must be accompanied by a Manufacturer's declaration completed and signed by an authorized person of the food manufacturing establishment/facility.
  • To request a template of the manufacturer's declaration, please contact your local CFIA office.
  • The product(s) must be clearly identified on the manufacturer's declaration and match exactly the product(s) that are part of the export shipment.

Note: Inspectors will verify that the manufacturer's declaration is completed appropriately and reserve the right to request any other information that they think is necessary for the final certification of the product.

4. Labelling, packaging and marking requirements

It is the exporter's responsibility to meet all the requirements for labelling, packaging and marking requirements as per the conditions of the importing country.

5. Required documents

Canada has a negotiated certificate with France. This certificate can only be used for export to France.

Please note that the applicant is responsible for the details of dispatched consignment (page 1 of the certificate). The certification part (page 2 of the certificate) must be completed by the certifying officer.

Note:

  • annex to the certificate is available upon request, if required, for additional product lines.
  • the certificate is signed by the CFIA official veterinarian.
  • the colour of the stamp and signature must be different to that of the other particulars in the certificate.
  • the shipping date must always be on or after the date of issuance of the certificate.
  • where applicable, the seal/container numbers should always be indicated.
  • export certificates cannot be issued for products that have left Canada.

6. Other information

Exported products transiting through a country may require transit documentation. It is the responsibility of the exporter to ensure that the shipment is accompanied by all necessary certificates.
