Establishments

Processing establishments wishing to export fish and seafood to Panama must appear on the consultation of processing plants approved for export to Panama (Spanish only).

This list is administered by the Panamanian Food Agency.

Procedure to add, update or remove a processing establishment on the consultation of processing plants approved for export to Panama

Establishments must be in compliance with Canadian regulations and be licensed under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) for the required activity(ies) and appear on the list of Canadian fish and seafood establishments approved for export. Contact your local CFIA office if your establishment is not on this list.

To request inclusion to Panama's list, submit the following information to your local CFIA office:

  • establishment identification (ID) number
  • Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence number
  • company name as it should appear on the export list. The options are:
    • legal name of business as it appears on the SFC licence, or
    • legal name of business (operating name), or
    • legal name of business (vessel name)
  • physical site address of the establishment. For vessels, this should be the primary docking location.
  • product(s) to be exported:
    • species
    • type (frozen, chilled, etcetera)
  • HS code(s)

Note: Once a request for inclusion/modification is received by the CFIA, the establishment may be contacted to provide additional establishment or product information. Approval timeframes may vary depending upon circumstances beyond the control of the CFIA.

Export documents available upon request

Canada does not have a negotiated certificate with Panama. Export certification to this country is based on the commercial risk. It is therefore important for the exporter to ensure that any documentation issued by the CFIA will be accepted by the competent authority in Panama.
