Establishments

Establishments must be in compliance with Canadian regulations and be licensed under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) for the required activity and appear on the list of Canadian fish and seafood establishments approved for export. Contact your local CFIA office if your establishment is not on this list.

Product specifications

  • Products must satisfy the health standards laid down in Specific hygiene foodstuffs rules approved by Government decision no. 435 of 28.05.2010 and the criteria laid down in The rules on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs approved by Government decision no. 221 of 16.03.2009
    • Moldova is in the process of harmonizing its food safety regulations with the European Union (EU)
    • These 2 rules are transposing European Union regulations, including: Regulation (EC) no. 853/2004, Regulation (EC) no. 2074/2005 and amending Regulations (EC) no.853/2004 and (EC) no. 854/2005, no. 2073/2005

Documentation requirements

Certificates

  1. For fishery products, including all live or non-live (chilled, frozen, or processed) finfish, crustaceans, and frogs, and non-live (chilled, frozen, or processed) bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods (including the adductor muscle of Pectinidae [scallops]):
    1. Health Certificate for Export of Fishery Products for Human Consumption from Canada to Moldova (CFIA/ACIA 5401)
    2. This certificate is a Joint Certificate containing both Food Safety/Public Health AND Aquatic Animal Health attestations. Please consult your CFIA inspector for any further instructions at the time of the certificate request submission.
  2. For live bivalve molluscs, live echinoderms, live tunicates and live marine gastropods:
    1. Health Certificate for Export of Live Bivalve Molluscs, Live Echinoderms, Live Tunicates and Live Marine Gastropods for Human Consumption from Canada to Moldova (CFIA/ACIA FA1050)
    2. This certificate is a Joint Certificate containing both Food Safety/Public Health AND Aquatic Animal Health attestations. Please consult your CFIA inspector for any further instructions at the time of the certificate request submission.
