- from cattle of all ages
- slaughtered without using air or gas injection into the skull
- obtained from cattle born and raised in Canada, or kept in Canada for at least 4 months prior to slaughter
- Poultry meat processed to inactivate avian influenza virus
Ineligible
- Meat products stored for greater than 6 months at -18°C
- Beef:
- mechanically separated meat (MSM)
- mechanically deboned meat (MDM)
Pre-export approvals by competent authority of importing country
Establishments
- Beef establishments must receive prior approval from Indonesian authorities. For more information refer to Annex 1 - List of Establishments Approved to Export to Indonesia.

Annex C – Application form for ruminant slaughterhouse and meat processing plant approval in country wishing to export meat and meat products to Indonesia must be completed along with Annex I – Application for establishment approval for bone-in beef access to Indonesia. An onsite audit may be required for approval./p>
Note: Currently, Indonesia is accepting applications (Annex C) for bone-in beef access. Once desk review of applications is completed by Indonesia, bone-in beef certification requirements will be determined after onsite audit by Indonesia.

Annex D - Application forms for pig slaughterhouse and pork meat processing plant approval in country wishing to export pork meat and meat products to Indonesia, must be completed along with Annex I – Application for establishment approval, for pork access to Indonesia. An onsite audit may be required for approval.
Note: Currently, Indonesia is accepting applications (Annex D) for pork access. Once desk review of applications is completed by Indonesia, pork certification requirements will be determined after onsite audit by Indonesia.

Product
- Processed meat products have to be registered with the Indonesian National Agency of Food and Drug Control (NADFC), also known as Badan Pengawas Obat Dan Makanan (Badan POM).
Production controls and inspection requirements
- Only meat products derived from animals slaughtered in keeping with Islamic rites and certified accordingly by an accepted Islamic Association may be exported. The exporter and importer are responsible to supply the required Halal certification.
- The imported meat and edible offal shall be shipped directly from the country of origin to the port of entry in Indonesia, except if approved otherwise by the Directorate General of Livestock Services of the Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia.
- Exporters must be aware that effective October 6, 2024, Indonesian Quarantine Agency's (IQA) requires that the exporters must submit a Prior Notice (K-1.2) before shipping animal and animal products (including meat and meat products), into Indonesia via an online portal. The user manual is available at the portal itself.
Labelling, marking and packaging requirements
- The exporter and importer are responsible to ensure that the products are labelled in accordance with all Indonesian labelling requirements applicable at the time of importation, to the satisfaction of Indonesian authorities. Examples include the: requirement to indicate the date of slaughter on the shipping container; requirement to label in both English and Bahasa Indonesia; etc.
- The container for transporting meat and edible offal from the country of origin shall be sealed with a Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) official seal under the supervision of the CFIA and could only be opened by the authorized Animal Quarantine Officer at the port of entry. During transportation, the temperature in the container shall be kept stable.
