Exporters are advised that in order to be eligible for certification to New Zealand they must contact their local Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Office in advance of export to determine the requirements. The following certificate is available:
Aquatic Animal Health and sanitary certificate for the export of the eviscerated (non-trout) salmonid products for human consumption from Canada to New Zealand (AQAH-1067)
- Currently, certificate (AQAH-1067) only applies to export of eviscerated (non-trout) salmonid products for human consumption
- The AQAH-1067 is a Joint Certificate containing both Food Safety/Public Health AND Aquatic Animal Health attestations
The AQAH-1067 must be validated, dated and issued by the CFIA Inspector while the product is still in Canada and available for inspection. Product which in not located in Canada at the time of signature is not eligible for certification using this export certificate - Additional information is available on the Export requirements for fish and seafood web page
Important Note:
- New Zealand has aquatic animal health requirements for imports of live ornamental aquatic animals. For this specific commodity, until such time as a negotiated certificate is available, shipments exported without an aquatic animal health certificate may be detained in New Zealand.
