Perkinsus marinus is a parasite which causes Dermo in cultured and wild American oysters (Crassostrea virginica).
Dermo is a federally reportable disease listed in the Reportable Diseases Regulations. This means that all suspect cases of the disease or detections of the pathogen must be reported to the CFIA.
