About the consultation
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) conducted a consultation to solicit comments from stakeholders and to give them an opportunity to provide input and feedback on the proposed changes.
Existing dice or cube size requirements for white potatoes packaged in hermetically sealed packages are outlined in section 40 of the "Canadian Grade Compendium: Volume 3 – Processed Fruit or Vegetable Products". The objective of the proposed changes is to reflect the following:
- changes in consumer demand and demographics
- response to market needs
- provide consistency for domestic manufacturers and importers of diced or cubed white potatoes packaged in hermetically sealed packages
Who was the focus of this consultation
The CFIA sought comments from:
- producers and packers
- individuals, businesses and organizations involved in the domestic and international supply of diced or cubed white potatoes packaged in hermetically sealed packages
- consumers
- other government departments/agencies, including provincial/territorial and municipal
- trading partners

The CFIA sought feedback with regards to proposed changes to the maximum size of diced or cubed white potatoes packaged in hermetically sealed packages, focusing on the following key themes:
