General
- Origin & Breeding: bred from the cross (Monalisa x Hudson) by D. Biemond B.V., HZPC, The Netherlands.
- Year registered in Canada: 2005
- Registration number: 6020
- Maturity: mid-season to late.
Botanical Features
- Plants: short to medium, semi-erect; stems very branching, weakly pigmented; wings prominent, waved single; nodes very slightly swollen.
- Leaves: olive green; semi-open; midribs weakly pigmented; petioles weakly to moderately pigmented.
Terminal leaflets: medium ovate; tip acute; base cordate and slightly asymmetrical.
Primary leaflets: five pairs; narrowly ovate; tip acute; base cordate and asymmetrical.
Secondary and tertiary leaflets: numerous. - Flowers: large red-violet corolla with white tips, prominent star; orange anthers; flower buds not pigmented; peduncle weakly pigmented; no berry production.
- Tubers: oval; smooth light yellow skin; few medium deep eyes, predominantly apical; eyebrows slightly prominent; light yellow flesh.
- Sprouts: spherical; very weak purple colouration and weak pubescence at the base; tip closed with weak purple pigmentation and medium pubescence.
Agricultural Features
High to very high yielding variety; very good foliage cover; very large tubers, uniform in size; good resistance to internal bruising. Low to medium specific gravity.
- Utilization: fairly firm texture; none to trace after cooking blackening; good for boiling and baking.
- Chief Market: fresh market.
Reaction to Diseases
Immune: potato wart (race 1).
Resistant: golden nematode (Globodera rostochiensis Ro1).
Good resistance: leaf roll, PVY, common scab, tuber late blight.
Moderately susceptible: PVX, foliage late blight.
