CFIA suspends the Safe Food for Canadians licence of Maison Si Bon Inc. (Licence #9FDM7HF8), Montreal, Quebec

November 3, 2026, Ottawa

On October 27, 2026, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence #9FDM7HF8 of Maison Si Bon Inc., located in Montreal, Quebec.

While the suspension is in effect, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which SFC licence #9FDM7HF8 was issued.

When a business fails to comply with its obligations under the Safe Food for Canadians Act (SFCA) and the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) concerning food safety, the CFIA may suspend its licence.

The CFIA suspended the licence because the licence holder failed to take corrective actions to comply with the following SFCR requirements within the period granted to take corrective actions:

  • Development and implementation of a preventive control plan
  • Sanitation and cleaning procedures
  • Procedures to prevent the risk of food contamination

Compliance with all regulations is required to maintain a safe food system and prevent food safety risks, including risks that can result in food recalls. A licence suspension is an enforcement action under the SFCA. Licence holders are required to comply with the legislation enforced by the CFIA.

There are no food recalls associated with this licence suspension.

The CFIA suspended the licence on the grounds set out in paragraph 35(a) of the SFCR, which provides that the Minister may suspend a licence if the licence holder does not comply with any provision of the SFCA, other than section 15, or with any provisions of the SFCR, the Food and Drugs Act or the Food and Drugs Regulations. In this case, the non-compliances were related to Part 4 of the SFCR.

The licence suspension will be lifted when it is determined that corrective measures have been taken by the licence holder. If corrective action is not taken within 90 days after the day on which the licence was suspended, the licence may be cancelled.  The licence may also be cancelled on other grounds set out in section 39 of the SFCR. Cancellation may occur after the licence holder has been notified of the grounds for cancellation and provided with an opportunity to be heard.

The CFIA publishes licence suspensions and cancellations on its website.
