Meet Lacy, a Canada Border Services Agency detector dog – Transcript
Narrator: Hi! I'm Lacy. I'm a detector dog.
In a lot of ways, I'm just like any other dog. I like my playtime, a big dish of food and naps. And oh ya, I like to sniff everywhere and everything. But there's one big difference…I have a job to do. And it's to protect you, your family, the economy and the environment.
You know that sniffer I mentioned? Ya, this one. I use it to sniff out prohibited food, plant and animal products.
I'm part of a great big pack of pups spread across the country. You'll see us working in places like border crossings, mail sorting facilities and airports like this one.
I know we're a good-looking crew and pretty hard to resist – but please don't pet us. We're on duty!
My work requires intense focus, dedication and of course...a world-class sniffer! My partner and I – ya, that's him – we work together to keep harmful food, plant and animal products out of Canada. Did you know these can carry invasive species and diseases?
Oh wait a second…I think I smell something! Got it! Nothing gets by us.
You can help make our jobs a lot easier. Be aware and declare all food, plant and animal products every time you enter Canada. And take it from me: the penalty for not declaring these items is ruff. Sniff you later!
