The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) regulates shell eggs and processed egg products leaving federally inspected establishments or being imported into Canada. The CFIA verifies they are safe, wholesome and graded according to established standards. The Agency also verifies they are labelled to avoid misleading consumers and facilitate orderly marketing.
Note:
The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations will come into effect on January 15, 2019 and include food-specific requirements for commodities such as eggs and processed egg products.
