Ministerial exemptions
The Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR) provide for two types of ministerial exemptions from the application of a provision of the Act or the Regulations. The two types of ministerial exemptions are [174(1), SFCR]:
- for the purpose of test marketing a food (known as test market authorizations), and
- for the purpose of alleviating a shortage in Canada in the available supply of a food that is manufactured, processed, or produced in Canada
