- Live crustaceans listed below are prohibited:
- European green crab (Carcinus maenas)
- Indo-pacific swimming crab (Charybdis hellerii)
- Asian crab (Charybdis japonica)
- Atlantic barnacle (Chthamalus proteus)
- Australian barnacle (Elminius modestus)
- Chinese mitten crab (Eriocheir sinensis)
- Asian shore crab (Hemigrapsus sanguineus)
- Rusty crayfish (Orconectes rusticus)
- Northern crayfish (Orconectes virilis)
- Californian crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus)
- Louisiana crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)
- Asian calanoid copepod (Pseudodiaptomus inopinus)
- Australian isopod (Sphaeroma quoianum)
Product Specification
Sampling and testing as well as an inspection may be required for certain species. Exporters are advised to contact their CFIA Area Office in advance of harvesting to determine the requirements and, if required, accommodate the scheduling of inspection and sampling which must occur prior to processing and freezing since some inspection must be conducted when the aquatic animal is alive.
