'Verwieg 8' was selected based on its compact plant growth habit, free branching, variegated foliage, abundant and remontant flowering and red purple flower colour. 'Verweig 8' was first asexually propagated by softwood cuttings in July 2015 in Hazerswoude, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Verweig 8' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20182671, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by Groupe d'Étude et de Contrôle des Variétés et des Semences in Brion, France between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
