Origin & Breeding History: 'JWW5' was bred and developed by the breeder, Jan-Willem Wezelenburg, in Hazerswoude-Dorp, Netherlands. It originated from a controlled cross pollination conducted in the late spring of 2009, between the Viburnum plicatum variety 'JWW1', as the female parent, and the Viburnum plicatum variety 'Pink Beauty', as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'JWW5' was selected in the late spring of 2011 for its upright plant growth habit, sterile flowers, large and glossy red fruit, and pink flowers. Asexual reproduction of 'JWW5' was first conducted by softwood cuttings in June 2011, in Hazerswoude-Dorp, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'JWW5' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/2682, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw Variety Center, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2014.
