Description:

'Bacoble' is a vegetatively propagated, annual bacopa variety. Plant growth habit is pendulous to spreading/trailing. The stem is medium green with absent or very sparse pubescence.

The simple ovate leaves are opposite in arrangement. The leaf has an acute apex with a truncate base and lobed margins. The main colour of the upper side of the leaf blade is medium green with no variegation.

The sepals are obtuse in shape and pubescence is absent or very sparse. 'Bacoble' flowers early to mid-season and has a long period of almost continuous flowering. The simple flowers are axillary and erect. The 5 lobes of the corolla tube are partially fused, medium in size and salverform in shape. The inner and outer sides of the corolla are blue violet in colour. The colour of the throat on the inner and outer sides of the corolla is yellow.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Bacoble' is the product of a planned breeding program conducted in Baulkam Hills, New South Wales, Australia. The variety was selected for its improved flower colour.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Bacoble' were conducted in June, 2000 at Ed Sobkowich Greenhouses Ltd., Grimsby, Ontario. The trials consisted of 13 plants per variety grown in 10 cm pots. Pots were spaced in flats on 12.5 cm centres. Measured characteristics were based on ten measurements.
