'THEISSHSSTL' was selected based on plant growth habit, leaf variegation, as well as flower type, colour and sterility. Asexual reproduction of 'THEISSHSSTL' was first conducted by softwood stem cuttings in September 2008 in Humble, Texas, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'THEISSHSSTL' was conducted in an outdoor irrigated container trial during the spring and summer of 2023 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 10 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from 5.7 cm liners, transplanted into 7.6-liter containers in summer 2021 and overwintered in an un-heated polyhouse. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants each of the candidate and reference variety on August 16, 2023. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
