Variety used for comparison: 'Duc de Brabant'
Summary: The petiole of 'RWOODS5' is very short to short whereas the petiole of 'Duc de Brabant' is short to medium length. The base of the leaf blade of 'RWOODS5' is rounded whereas that of 'Duc de Brabant' is acute. The petal of 'RWOODS5' is narrow to medium width whereas the petal of 'Duc de Brabant' is very narrow.

LEAF BLADE: short, narrow, length to width ratio is moderately elongated, rounded base, medium green on upper side, medium depth lobing, medium degree of undulation of margin, few margin incisions, no variegation
PEDICEL: short
FLOWER: double type, many petaloid stamens, small diameter
OUTERMOST PETAL: strongly to moderately ascending attitude
PETAL: short to medium length, narrow to medium width, slightly elongated, inner side red purple (redder than RHS 70B), absent or weak incisions of margin, weak undulation
EYE ZONE: small relative to petal, short extensions, red (slightly brighter than RHS 53A)
Origin & Breeding History: 'RWOODS5' was bred and developed by the breeder, Roderick Ian Woods, in King's Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom. 'RWOODS5' originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2006 between two proprietary seedlings, the female parent variety designated 7060 and the male parent variety designated 5954. This variety was designated as 10139 and further assessed in the breeders comparative trials in 2008. In 2011, 'RWOODS5' was selected and commercialized based on plant vigour, strong flowering, flower colour, double flower type, flower size and appearance. Asexual propagation by grafting was first conducted in 2009, in King's Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'RWOODS5' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/0022, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany in Cambridge, United Kingdom in 2016. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
