Description:

PLANT: shrub type, intermediate growth habit, short to medium height during second flush

YOUNG SHOOT: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
STEM: many to very many purplish prickles

LEAF: medium size, strong intensity of green on upper side, no anthocyanin colouration, very weak to weak glossiness on upper side, medium degree of undulation of margin
TERMINAL LEAFLET: ovate, acuminate apex

FLOWERING LATERALS: few, few flowers per lateral
FLOWER BUD: broad ovate in longitudinal section
FLOWER: double type, very many petals, purple colour group, dense petals, medium to large diameter, round shape, flat profile of upper part, concave profile of lower part, medium fragrance, absent or very weak sepal extensions
PETAL: no reflexing of petals one-by-one, obovate shape, weak incisions, weak to medium reflexing of margin, strong undulation, small to medium size
PETAL (INNER SIDE): one colour excluding basal spot, even intensity of colour, medium purple (RHS 67A)
PETAL BASAL SPOT (INNER SIDE): small, medium yellow
OUTER STAMEN: predominantly medium yellow filament
SEED VESSEL: medium size at petal fall

Origin & Breeding History: 'Auscrowd' originated from a controlled cross between two unnamed seedlings conducted in Albrighton, United Kingdom in the summer of 2011. The new variety 'Auscrowd' was selected from the resulting progeny in 2012 based on flower size, flower colour, double flower type, fragrance, repeat flowering and overall plant health. 'Auscrowd' was selected for commercial introduction in February of 2019.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Auscrowd' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/2521, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted at the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2020. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
