Summary: The dormant cane of 'Glen Dee' is brownish purple whereas the dormant cane of '0485k-1' is brown. A single drupe of 'Glen Dee' is large to very large whereas the drupe of '0485k-1' is medium to large.

Description:

PLANT: arching growth habit, many current season shoots, only bears fruit on previous season's cane in summer, medium to late vegetative bud burst

VERY YOUNG SHOOT: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration of apex during rapid growth
FRUITING LATERAL: horizontal to drooping attitude, medium length
CURRENT SEASON`S CANE: medium to strong degree of glaucosity, medium to strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium internode length, short to medium length of vegetative bud
DORMANT CANE: long, brownish purple
SPINES: none

LEAF: medium to dark green upper side, predominantly five leaflets, medium to strong rugosity, relative position of lateral leaflets is free
LEAFLET: concave in cross-section
TERMINAL LEAFLET: medium to long, medium width

Origin & Breeding History: 'Glen Dee' originated from a controlled cross between the parent varieties '00123A5' and '0019B11' conducted on April 7, 2004 at The James Hutton Institute in Dundee, United Kingdom. The new variety was selected on November 20, 2007 based on fruit quality; pest and disease resistance; and plant growth habit. Weekly measurements of fruit size, sweetness and shelf life were also considered in the selection.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Glen Dee' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2014/0627, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2016 and 2017.
