'Miss Malina' has a very strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration on the tip of the lightsprout while it is absent or very weak in 'Capri'. The lightsprout of 'Miss Malina' has a medium number of root tips while that of 'Capri' has few root tips. The extent of anthocyanin colouration is medium to high along the entire stem of 'Miss Malina' while it is absent or very low on the stem of 'Capri'. At the apical rosette, the leaflet blade of 'Miss Malina' has pubescence while that of 'Capri' does not. The extent of anthocyanin colouration on the flower bud of 'Miss Malina' is low to medium while it is absent or very low in 'Capri'. The extent of anthocyanin colouration on the peduncle of the inflorescence of 'Miss Malina' is medium to high while it is absent or very low in 'Capri'. Origin & Breeding History: 'Miss Malina' originated from a cross between the variety 'Atlantic', as the female parent, and the selection '23-1-95', as the male parent, conducted in 2002 at the Interseed Potatoes GmbH breeding station in Wittmund, Germany. From the resulting progeny, 'Miss Malina' was selected in 2010 based on negative mass selection and disease resistances.

Tests & Trials: The comparative test and trial for 'Miss Malina' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the growing season of 2017 in Drummond, New Brunswick. There were 70 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. The trial consisted of a single, 21.2 metre long row with plants spaced 0.3 metres apart for each variety. The distance between rows within the trial was 0.9 metres. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety.
