Seeds were harvested and sown in December 2012 and from the resulting progeny, a single unique plant was selected in the summer of 2016 based on its plant height, dense branching and red purple flowers.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'PHMZ0004' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2020/0179, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted at the Naktuinbouw Variety Center in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2021. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
