Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC020' (experimental designation K2013-J-229) originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeder in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2011. The hybridization was made between the female parent, a Petunia proprietary line named 'GY2-1E-6' and the male parent, a proprietary Calibrachoa line named 'AM9-83A-1B-2A'. From the resulting progeny, approximately 34 seeds were obtained in December 2011, and grown in a greenhouse in February 2012. In July 2012, the breeder selected a single plant based on its flower colour and plant growth habit, and it was given the experimental designation 'K2013-J-229'. In August 2012, the selected plant was vegetatively propagated to produce root cuttings and evaluated in an open field. In November 2012, the variety was found to be stable and it was further propagated in December 2012. The breeder confirmed that the new variety was uniform and stable and it was subsequently named 'SAKPXC020' in April 2013.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC020' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2018/0448, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2019. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
