PLANT: upright growth habit, medium height, short to medium length shoots
LEAF BLADE: medium length, narrow to medium width, ovate, broad acute apex, no variegation, medium green on upper side, no blistering
PEDICEL: medium length
CALYX LOBE: medium length at longest part, narrow at broadest part, no anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: single, small to medium diameter, salverform shape
COROLLA LOBE: weak to medium undulation of margin
COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): one colour, purple (more blue than RHS N74A), very weak to weak conspicuousness of veins
COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): yellow orange (RHS 15B), weak conspicuousness of veins
ANTHER: yellowish white before dehiscence
Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC016' (experimental designation K2011-J-120) originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeders in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2009. The hybridization was made between the female parent, a proprietary hybrid Petunia line named 'AM6-81A-1A-1A-1A' and the male parent, a proprietary hybrid Calibrachoa line named '8B-43A-V1'. In July 2010, six plants were evaluated and a single plant was selected based on flower colour, blooming vigour and growth habit. From August to December 2010, the selection was vegetatively propagated and evaluated under different greenhouse and field conditions. Vegetative cuttings were shipped to Salinas, California, USA for propagation and final evaluations. The final selection was subsequently named 'SAKPXC016'.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC016' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1513, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2016. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
