In September 2000, a single plant was selected by the breeder from the F1 progeny, based on flower colour, form and plant habit.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Didi Appleblossom' were conducted in a polyhouse in St. Thomas, Ontario during the summer of 2003. The trials consisted of a total of 15 plants of each variety. All plants were grown from unrooted cuttings, stuck on March 14 (week 11) and transplanted into 11.5 cm pots on April 23rd, 2003 (week 17). Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants of each variety on June 10, 2003. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 RHS Colour Chart.
