Origin & Breeding History: 'Fisnics Lilav' originated from a hybridization between the female parent, variety 'Harmony White', and the male parent, variety 'Riviera Pink Eye', made in Hillscheid, Germany in 2000. The resultant seed was sown in Galdar, Gran Canaria and selections were made in the autumn of 2000 based on flower and foliage colour. Vegetative cuttings from the selected seedling were further trial cultivated in Hillscheid, Germany. The final selection of 'Fisnics Lilav' was based on growth characteristics and plant habit.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Fisnics Lilav' were conducted in a greenhouse during the spring/summer of 2002 in Langley, British Columbia. The trials included 15 plants per variety. All plants were grown from unrooted cuttings. Once rooted, the cuttings were transplanted into 9 cm pots and 10 weeks later, repotted into 15 cm pots. The pots were spaced 30 cm apart, from pot center. The plants were grown in a peat-perlite mix (60:40), and fertilized with a balanced fertilizer once per week. Plants were shaded when light levels were above 5000 foot candles. All colour characteristics were determined using the 2001 Royal Horticulture Society (RHS) Colour Chart and measured characteristics were based on measurements taken from 10 plants of each variety.
