Origin & Breeding History: 'Breg14' originated from an open pollinated cross that was discovered and developed by the breeder, Arie Jacobus Bregman, in Benthuizen, the Netherlands. The cross occurred in 2006 among plants of the Hydrangea paniculata variety 'Dharuma', with the exact male parent being unknown. The new Hydrangea variety 'Breg14' was selected as a unique seedling in 2008, in Hazerswoude Drop, the Netherlands based on growth habit, number of flowers, time of flowering, flower colour and flower shape. It was selected for introduction in 2015.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Breg14' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2016/2320, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the testing station of the Groupe d'Étude et de Contrôle des Variétés et des Semences in Brion, France, from 2017 to 2018. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
