Description:

PLANT: begins flowering very early to early season, semi-erect to horizontal attitude of shoots
STEM: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration

LEAF BLADE: very short to short, narrow to medium width, no variegation, medium to dark green on upper side, very weak to weak blistering, absent or very shallow incisions of margin

FLOWER BUD: short, narrow
FLOWER: single type, narrow
HYPANTHIUM: ventricose shape, dark pink red (RHS 45D)
SEPAL: attitude is horizontal, incurving to straight apex, inner side is dark pink red (RHS 52A), outer side is dark pink red (RHS 53C)
PETAL: inner side is violet (RHS N78A), outer side is violet (RHS N78A)
OVARY: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
STYLE: pink
FILAMENT: pink

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEFU14842' was bred and developed by the breeder, Andrea Dohm, in Stuttgart, Germany. It originated from a controlled cross conducted in Stuttgart, Germany in October 2011 between '2010.1', as the female parent, and '2010.7', as the male parent. The resulting seedlings were selected in September 2012 based on plant growth habit, branching characteristics, flower abundance and flower colour. The selected seedlings were then evaluated in greenhouse trials from December to April in 2013 and 2014 and from December to March in 2015. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLEFU14842' in May 2015, in Stuttgart, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEFU14842' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1636, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted in 2016 by the Bundessortenamt, in Hannover, Germany. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
