Origin & Breeding History: 'Takforugl' originated from a cross conducted by the breeder during a controlled breeding program in Honselersdijk, the Netherlands in July 2006. The cross involved the proprietary Digitalis purpurea breeding selection '1-6063' as the female parent and the proprietary Digitalis canariensis breeding selection '1-6055' as the male parent. 'Takforugl' was selected in 2007 for its unique flower colouration.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Takforugl' was conducted in a polyhouse during the summer of 2014 at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 4.4 liter containers on May 12, 2014. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of plants of each variety on July 14, 2014. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
