Origin & Breeding History: 'Asfari' originated from a controlled cross-pollination conducted in May of 1997, in Rillaar, Belgium, between the variety 'Elstar', as the female parent, and the variety 'Delcorf' (Delbarestival), as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'Asfari' was selected in 2003 for its fruit quality, storability, and shelf life. 'Asfari' was first propagated asexually by grafting cuttings onto rootstocks during the winter of 2003 to 2004.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Asfari' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2012/0099, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt under reference number APF 653 in Prüfstelle Wurzen, Germany, from 2014 to 2015.
