African swine fever (ASF) is a serious disease that can kill pigs. If it reaches Canada, it will devastate pig herds, impact the pork industry and hurt the economy.

Before you travel or return to Canada, know what you can bring, what to declare and the risks.

• Declare all food and animal products, or you could face penalties of up to $1,300.
• Declare any hunting, farm visits, contacts with wild animals and follow biosecurity measures if you are:
  • hunting outside Canada, learn how hunters can reduce the risk
  • working on farms or with animals, learn what agricultural workers need to know
