GENERAL
- Origin & Breeding: bred by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Center in St. John's, Newfoundland, from the cross (Blue Mac x SVP AM66-42) in 1977.
- Year licensed in Canada: 1990

- Maturity: late
BOTANICAL FEATURES
- Plants: large, erect; stems slightly pigmented above nodes; prominent wings; nodes not swollen.
- Leaves: dark green, open, slightly pubescent; midribs and petioles pigmented and slightly pubescent.
Terminal leaflets: oval; base asymmetrical.
Primary leaflets: three pairs; oval.
Secondary leaflets: small, three pairs. - Flowers: numerous; large inflorescence carried above foliage; medium sized white corolla; pale orange anthers; bronzy green buds; pointed, medium long, pale bronze calyx lobes; no berry production.
- Tubers: round; smooth blue purple skin; medium-deep eyes; white flesh, blue coloration may occur in vascular ring.
- Sprouts: blue purple.
AGRICULTURAL FEATURES
High yielding variety; tubers set early; high number of tubers per plant; well adapted to Newfoundland growing conditions; good storability, medium dormancy period; high specific gravity.
REMARK: favour a 35 to 40 cm (12 to 14 in) spacing in order to avoid too small tubers production.
- Utilization: very good boiling quality.
- Chief Market: fresh market.
REACTION TO DISEASES
Resistant: potato wart (races 1, 2, 8), golden nematode (Globodera rostochiensis Ro1).
Moderately resistant: tuber late blight.
Susceptible: common scab.
NOTE: this variety does not display typical field or tuber symptoms of bacterial ring rot.
