CFIA suspends the Safe Food for Canadians licence of 2005937Alberta Inc. dba BOOBY FOOD (LIC. # 6GLGM9X4)

March 19, 2025, Ottawa

On March 5, 2025, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) suspended the Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence # 6GLGM9X4 of 2005937Alberta Inc. dba BOOBY FOOD, located in Calgary, Alberta.

While the suspension is in effect, the licence holder may not conduct any activity for which SFC licence # 6GLGM9X4 was issued.

The CFIA suspended the licence because the licence holder failed to comply with several regulatory requirements, including:

  • Sections 10 and 13 of the Safe Food for Canadians Act requiring that import, export and interprovincial movement activities be done in compliance with the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations.
  • Part two of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations regarding activities requiring a license for import and interprovincial trade
  • Part four of the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations regarding sanitation and preventive controls
  • Sections 4 and 7 of the Food and Drugs Act which prohibit the sale of unfit product and manufacturing in insanitary conditions.
  • Sections 3 and 5 of the Food and Drugs Act which deals with advertising and product claims.

There is no recall associated with this suspension.

Licence holders are responsible for ensuring that they comply with Canada's food laws. The CFIA is responsible for enforcing those laws.

The licence suspension will be lifted if the CFIA determines that corrective measures have been taken by the licence holder. If corrective action is not taken within 90 days after suspension, the CFIA may cancel the licence. The CFIA may also cancel the licence on other grounds set out in section 39 of the SFCR. Cancellation can occur after the licence holder has been notified of the grounds for cancellation and provided with an opportunity to be heard.

Safe Food for Canadians licences can be suspended:

  • for failure to comply with the Safe Food for Canadians Act, the Food and Drugs Act and their related regulations;
  • for default of payment of any fee related to the licence; and
  • if risk of injury to the public may result from continuing to conduct the licensed activity.

The CFIA publishes licence suspensions and cancellations on its website.
