The CFIA Fish list provides the following information:
- The French and English common names which are acceptable in Canada for the labelling of fish;
- The scientific names and their corresponding Taxonomic Serial Number (TSN) which is used to identify, on the Fish Import Notification, the species of fish being imported;
- For each species, the species related hazards (histamine production, environmental contamination, marine toxins) which it may be subject to;
- For each species related hazards (histamine production, environmental contamination, marine toxins), the list of species which may be subject to that hazard.

No French name specified - none applicable found in references. When acceptable names are identified, they will be added to the Fish List.
Criteria for assigning new common names - Applications for the addition or removal of common names from the CFIA Fish List should follow the Guidance on Determining the Common Names for Fish Sold or Processed in Canada.
Note to Exporters
It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the common name(s) selected for the fish species you are exporting is (are) acceptable to the authorities responsible for fish nomenclature in the importing country. This can be done by contacting the consular office of the importing country or by requesting confirmation of the acceptability of the common name from your foreign importer.
