Bird flu, also called Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) has not been detected in dairy cattle or other cattle in Canada.
HPAI is a reportable disease under the Health of Animals Act and all suspected cases must be reported to the CFIA.
There is no risk to food safety and the chance of people catching bird flu is still low.
