Responsible for:
- assessment of permits to import and transfer permits
- pathogen risk assessments
- compliance verification of
- Containment Level (CL) 2 in vitro and CL2-Agriculture (terrestrial animal pathogens)
- Aquatic Containment Level 2 (AQC2) in vitro (aquatic animal pathogens)

Biocontainment and Certification Program
Responsible for the compliance verification of:
- CL3, CL3-Agriculture and CL4 (terrestrial animal pathogens)
- Enhanced oversight under the Policy on the Importation of Terrestrial Foreign or Emerging Animal Disease Agents into Canada
- Aquatic Containment in vivo small scale (AQCss), AQC2 in vivo full scale and AQC3 in vivo full scale (aquatic animal pathogens)
- Plant Pest Containment (PPC) Level 2- Arthropods (PPC-2A) and PPC Level 3 (PPC-3) (plant pathogens and pests)
- Foreign animal disease (FAD) and transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) diagnostic network facilities
