Data review or requesting an opinion for livestock feed: Overview

Data review or requesting an opinion for livestock feed

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) administers the Feeds Act and regulations that regulate the manufacture, sale and import of livestock feeds in Canada.

The CFIA's livestock feeds page contains resources that can help regulated parties interpret, understand and apply the regulations. In some cases, regulated parties may need help from CFIA subject matter experts to interpret and comply with the regulations.

You may apply for an opinion or data review for livestock feed as an individual or a business/institution if you need:

  • a data review on stack events
  • opinions on novelty determination
  • a letter of no objection for an incidental feed additive (IFA)
  • a pre-submission consultation meeting
  • a product / label review (do not choose this option for an application for registration or approval)
  • a modification to an Incorporation by Reference (IBR) or regulatory guidance document
